SEE GREAT LAKES SHIPWRECK SURVIVOR DENNIS HALE AT THE TITLETOWN TRAIN SHOW, GREEN BAY, WI APRIL 27-28, 2013
WILL GIVE MAJOR PRESENTATION AT 7PM ON APRIL 27!
Dennis Hale, the lone survivor of the November 29, 1966 shipwreck of the 606 foot long DANIEL J. MORRELL in Lake Huron will appear in Green Bay, WI on April 27-28, 2013 at the Titletown Train Show. Hale's appearance is being sponsored by JMD Plastics and the Motorcycle and Model Railroad Museum of Wisconsin, as well as the Green Bay Southwest High School Social Studies Academic Team.
Hale, who has spoken around the midwest, has also appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and NBC's TODAY show, telling of his harrowing tale of survival. After the MORRELL split in two, Dennis was tossed about in a liferaft in 30 foot waves, freezing temperatures, and a blizzard, clad in nothing but his underwear and a peacoat for 36 hours. He awaited rescue as three of his shipmates perished around him. Hale will gladly take questions about his ordeal after the presentation as well.
One of only 3 remaining Great Lakes shipwreck survivors, Hale will speak at the Lombardi Middle School auditorium, 1520 South Point Road, Green Bay, WI at 7PM on Saturday, April 27. Great Lakes shipwreck historian John DeBeck, along with students from the Southwest High academic team will also give a presentation including slides and photos, prior to Hale's speech, highlighting major shipwrecks in the bay of Green Bay (which number over 300!) as well as on the 100th anniversary of the Great Storm of 1913, in which 250 lives and 20 major vessels were lost in Lakes Huron, Michigan, Superior, and Green Bay.
Best of all----Hale's presentation is FREE!!!!
Those attending Hale's presentation will be eligible for a drawing for a FREE $100 gift certificate from JMD Plastics. You must be present to register and win.
Hale will also be in attendance at the Titletown Train Show at Shopko Hall in Green Bay on Saturday, April 27 from 9AM-5PM, and Sunday, April 28 from 10AM-4PM, where he will have copies of his autobiography for sale. He will also sign autographs, take photos, and be happy to speak to anyone about shipping and wrecks. His booth will be immediately adjacent to the JMD Plastics booth, so please come visit him (and us!)
